About Vilavilla Gourmet 村里村外
More about the restaurant: Vilavilla Gourmet 村里村外
You may not see Mao Zedong’s childhood home on Yi Chun Street, but you can find a taste of his hometown thanks to one of Hong Kong’s most authentic Hunan Chinese restaurants, Vilavilla Gourmet. Well versed in the culinary traditions of Chairman Mao’s homeland, Vilavilla Gourmet adhere to the smoking, curing, garlicking and occasionally chilli-bombing traditions of Hunan in an incredible array of authentic dishes. Not too far from the shore in Sai Kung, though, Vilavilla Gourmet throws the occasional sprinkling of seafood over the more traditional inland Chinese specialties, so you really can find something unique. Puffy steamed buns are enhanced at Vilavilla Gourmet with an unusually spicy and extremely oily sauce that can be addictive, crispy pancakes are a popular choice and of course Vilavilla Gourmet lays out the perfect remedy whatever the season: a selection of cold cured meats with fresh chillies to open the pores in summer, and hearty hotpot for the bleak winter months.
