Dating back over one hundred years, nikkei cuisine originated from Peru’s large Japanese community, fusing together the delicate flavours of Japan with the fiery and colorful flavours of Peru, and at TokyoLima in Central Hong Kong you can experience this type of cooking for yourself. Styled like a Japanese izakaya, TokyoLima’s casual vibe makes it the perfect setting for a number of different occasions, whether it's a catch up with friends or a first date. Begin your meal with some beef tataki with sea urchin, ponzu sauce, kyuri salad and black truffle, or the ceviche, before moving on to the tacu tacu (rice and lentils with vegetable stir-fry, chimichurri and yellow chili paste) or the langosta acechada (grilled lobster with sour chili butter and charred carrot).
The selection of small plates like the nikkei mussels pot with yellow chilli butter, bacon, coriander and sourdough bread are great for sharing around the table with friends, while other delicious choices on the menu include an array of nikkei sushi. We recommend the futomaki (cabbage, beetroot, avocado, quinoa pop, pickled shiitake and garlic miso mayo). The drinks menu is as creative as the food, boasting a lengthy list of inventive cocktails as well as an impressive collection of over twenty different sakes. You’ll find TokyoLima located on ground floor of the Car Po Commercial Building on Lyndhurst Terrace in Central Hong Kong. Snag a table by making a reservation in advance!
Amazing food and amazing service! Would definitely come back here next time I'm in town! I recommend trying. The mussels! They're out of this world!
Great service and food, the staff were very accommodating and ensured that we had everything we needed. Food was great, they had a good range of different options for everyone.
Beautiful restaurant and delicious food! We did the tasting menu and it as a very generous amount of food for the price! Would highly recommend doing that. We will be back soon to try different dishes!
Very good environment and delcious food. Cocktail is good too and enjoy much. Highly recommend to friends and will revisit again. Can spend time there !
We had an excellent night out at TokyoLima. We had booked for a table at 9.45pm as there were no earlier timeslots, but we went along to TokyoLima's happy hour at 6pm to enjoy a few drinks in the hope that an earlier table would come up. I had the drink "There's Something About Mary" is TokyoLima's take on a bloody mary with beetroot juice and a house made mix - peppery, bursting with tomato flavour and hint of beetroot sweetness. Awesome start! As was the Mrs' mocktail. We were lucky that evening, managing to get an earlier table and were seated by 6.30pm! Our table went with the omakase menu and what an experience it was! TokyoLima's signature dishes are indeed outstanding and with 9 generous courses, we were stuffed! Highlights were the S.S. salad and the prawn acevichada! The TokyoLima makis were also very well made, brimming with fresh maguro and sushi rice that delicately falls apart in the mouth. We will be back again to taste the other dishes!
We went to TokyoLima for a Sunday brunch with our children (4 and 7 years old). As soon as we sat down, the children were given a children's menu and each were given a brand new box of Crayola crayons and a coloring page. I was pleasantly surprised that the restaurant was so child-friendly. The service was fantastic. The food was brought out without too much delay between each course and timed just right so we weren't overwhelmed by so many dishes. The wait staff was attentive and checked to see if we needed a top up on our water and other drinks. The food was tasty. The presentation was nice and appetizing. Just be aware that it can get a bit loud in the restaurant, especially during brunch when unlimited brunch cocktails are offered. We would definitely go back again.
You are in for a treat! At TokyoLima you'll be able to taste flavours and combinations you've never experienced before!! The food is fresh and delicious and the staff are super attentive but never came across as pushy!! The cocktails were fun and inventive and oh so yummy!!
Had la causa (very tasty with great tempura shrimp on top), the salmon (really nice but the fisheggs on top are too overpowering, just scoop them off) and the ceviche. (Good quality but for us it could have a bit more acidic) We totally! loved the octopus skewers and the taku taku!! Nice service, good interior and great overall vibe. Good price quality experience so will definitely be back, lots of more things on the menu we want to try.
We chose the Feed Me option where we got to sample a variety of dishes. There was enough food for everyone at the table and it was delicious. Every dish was great given the flavours and textures. Dessert that followed was an added bonus. Our server was awesome and very informative as well. Loved it and will be back for sure.
Great food - interesting flavours, generous portions. Lovely decor in a nice environment. TokyoLima is fusion cuisine that actually works - where the combination of two different cuisines are complementary rather than clashing with one another!
Cocktails were great. Would recommend the Lady Marmalade. The Valentine's Day menu was well thought through; good balance of meat, seafood and vegetables. The service was a bit rushed during the first half of our meal, but took on a better pace for the second half. Would be inclined to go back and try the full menu.
Service was excellent, despite it being very busy for a Friday night, our waiter made sure we were taken care of, plus the consistency of the food was excellent as my previous visit. Would go back again anytime. Only downfall was the music was too loud for conversation at the table, had to yell over the music
The staff were lovely and very helpful. especially when I realised my of our guest did not eat raw fish or beef. They come up with something else. The chef specials was delicious and reasonable price. The only problem was the music was to loud especially as we put next to the speakers.
Love the ambience and great variety of cocktails there. We tried a few dishes and they tasted really good. The dishes are good for sharing. Among the dishes, I recommend the maguro with watermelon and the grilled chicken. We ordered a banana split for dessert too. That was pretty good too :)
The venue is very elegant, and the service very good. However the food was very average /poor. We chose the "chef feed me" option which allows the restaurant to choose the dishes for you. It was 480pp, however not one of the dishes had any flavour. It was all extremely bland, also the a la carte cost of the items was much less than 480pp. We ended up paying 3500hkd for a meal for 4 people, which probably the food itself on the a la Cart would have cost 1000hkd, plus 6 gin and tonics. Very overpriced for a poor meal. Out of the 7 or 8 dishes we had / not one of them were remarkable or flavoursome. I would definitely not recommend this restaurant.
I think it's important to make a note about how much they press the next sitting' s arrival. They are very pushy and don't manage this very well. The staff are so freaked out about it that's the first thing they say to customers and the last. We would have totally understood they just need to train their front of house better
Great venue, great service, great food. The menu is very interesting , not like anything else so if you are looking for something different in a lovely space then this is the place for you. Can't wait to return.
We'd been looking forward to this dinner, but left feeling quite disappointed. Maybe it's better to visit when it's not the weekend and the kitchen has more time to dedicate to the dishes. Our server was lovely and attentive, but that didn't make up for the disappointing meal. We started with the ceviche nipon as an entree (appetizer to the Americans) and despite looking colourful and tasty, it lacked flavour and was quite bland. Unfortunately, this set the tone for the rest of the evening. Nothing was terrible, but nothing was memorable. The music in the restaurant was also very loud, so it was hard for our table to even hear each other.
Food was exceptional. All the dishes were tasty and well-made. The only criticism we had was that food was extremely slow! Our entire omasake experience took 3+ hours. Understood it was their first week of opening so service may have been slow but I hope next time we go we don't spend 3+ hours having dinner!
Was really excited to try this restaurant, service was friendly and attentive, but unfortunately the food was very disappointing. We had the omakase for the table, all the dishes were lacking something, not one dish stood out. There was no flavor complexity expected from a fusion restaurant, it was basically soy sauce, yuzu, vinegar and salt...most of the dishes were either too salty or too acidic...and tasted all the same after a while. The grilled octopus was cooked well but again flavor was flat...kimchi chicken was too sweet and parts of it very dry...cheesecake was underwhelming (too much gelatin)...it was a decent amount of food for $600 a head but totally unsatisfying.
Very creative and delicious food. Great atmosphere - although the volume of the music could be turned down a bit in the dining section to facilitate conversations. Service is outstanding and super friendly. We will be back!
Great food. Great ambiance. Great drinks. Really top notch restaurant that is constantly evolving it's menu items to make them better and better. The sake menu is fantastic and the mixologist behind the cocktails is just amazing.
Have always been a fan of the pirata group. This one surely shares strengths of other res of the same group. Nice decor, interesting cocktails, good food and exquisite services. Would recommend this res to my friends.
I visited Tokyo Lima for weekend brunch. Staffs were very friendly, various foods were all good (but a little salty & too sweet for me), decent interior and spacious seats. The hall was way too noisy with a group having a birthday party.
Great interior deco and stylish environment. Staffs are very enthusiastic hope they can keep it up not only just becoz it's just newly opened. Food are tasty and price are reasonable, would return for def
Nice food with reasonable price. If you like to try more variety from the menu, Omkasae is highly recommend. The only thing was I had to return the table before 8:30pm, I couldn't finish all my food within one and half hour.
Savory items were delicious. Dessert paled a little in comparison, because the savory dishes were too good. Service though was a little lacking and rushed. Courses were served before the previous was done. Water was not served promptly, not even refilled when dishes were just served. The glasses were empty a little too long a handful of times.... Food was good, and that made up for the experience.
We had the weekend brunch yesterday, ordered the cod fish and steak as our main dish. The food is excellent overall, except that a couple pieces of our steak is kind of chewy. We like the ambience very much too.
Great food and service! We were in Hong Kong for just three nights and this experience made a difference. We totally recommend this restaurant if you would like to experience some fusion cuisine.
Very good food and nice variety Slow service at first - then our server changed and was very good Very loud music - could not converse at our table - asked for music to be adjusted and it was for a while and then adjusted up to be louder
Great food, atmosphere and exceptional service. Each dish had great flavours, thoughtfully presented. Topping this off was the service - consistently excellent from the people in the restaurant and behind the bar.
Try the omasake menu~ nice food and very full. Like the starter, shushi and grilled pork rib. My friend like the fried chicken. Quiet environment. The restaurant has a low profile door which is easy to miss.
Great service, delicious food & a lovely ambiance in spite being a relatively full house for a Tuesday night (would have thought noise would be an issue but was not).
Amazing food, amazing service, amazing restaurant. Could not have been happier - will definitely be back. Highly recommend the chefs menu for value and incredible variety and quality of dishes.
Good food. Though we had booking kept us waiting close to 30mins past the booking time. Every 10 minutes after the booking time, we were told "few more minutes. setting up table now". Could have handled it better - be upfront, give us the menu, ask us to order before we got to the table, offered a drink etc. etc.
hidden door. Cute environment. staff were attentive. Food was delicious and small plates kept coming. the only thing is, for the fact that we had to add money for the mains, they were tiny portions.
Food was lovely, service was good only negative was being given a bit of a crappy table; the back of my chair kept getting knocked each time a server rushed from kitchen to restaurant floor.
Drinks and food was amazing and full of great surprises all along the way!! Beverage manager Isabella was spot on with the drinks as well as service staff Abel!!
Decent menu, although not particularly Peruvian (I lived in Peru for three years, so have some experience ). some kinks in the service process mean ordering quite slow, and very few staff empowered to take orders. Once this is addressed, will work better.
Great food, and their dessert (banana split with cinnamon ice cream) is amazing. The waitstaff are friendly and knowledgeable of the food/ingredients. Will return for their dinner menu!
Great food (we had five of the small plates / skewers as a meal for two) and drinks. Fantastic service. Would definitely recommend and plan to return again.
We just had a drink and snack. Excellent calamari en good cocktails. Bar area is nice. Intended to eat too but only on confirming they informed us table had to be given back at certain time which was too soon for us.
Great atmosphere, value for money. Service was attentive and staffs were cery friendly indeed. Personally the food was ok but not veey surprising. Will definitely go again.
Excellent food. Ambience and setting were great. There was a good buzz about this place. The service was fine, although management was top. Try the classic ceviche!
The food portion is a bit too much than expected and all the dishes are so delicious. The cocktail drinks were nice too espcially the inca sour.
Simple reservation process and the system will show what are the available times . Confirmed on the spot and no issue when arrive at the hotel
The food was absolutely delicious and the setting is fun, yet intimate. Great drinks too - long cocktails and superb quality sake. Try the beetroot causa!
Dishes are in good portions. Loved the T-3 salad and Tacu Tacu fried rice. The futomaki sushi with Orka tempura was surprisingly good. Good service. Would like to revisit sometime soon.
Excellent experience, amazing food, very friendly staff. I would recommend to everyone to come here for every kind of purpose. Expectations are completely met here.
Excellent food and effective attentive smooth service. Very lively environment. Thoroughly enjoyed all we ate with a special highlight to the octopus skew. Highly recommended!
