The heart of Wan Chai is the home of The Oyster House, an Italian-inflected seafood restaurant whose name says it all – this place is a premier destination for Hong Kong’s ardent oyster lovers. Found on the ground floor of Kam Fook Mansion on Jaffe Road, a short walk from Wan Chai station, The Oyster House invites diners to relax in a warm and intimate environment and enjoy home-style Italian cuisine and, of course, a clutch of the world’s most romantic mollusc.
While it’s true that the forte at this Hong Kong seafood restaurant is the unassuming oyster – humble on the outside, taste and texture sensation on the inside – there’s a lot more to Wan Chai’s The Oyster House than its name would suggest. The real emphasis here is Italian cuisine, with a range of dishes (admittedly with a maritime focus) gracing the tables in the restaurant’s Jaffe Road restaurant. Take, for example, the squid ink tagliatelle with fresh mussels in a simple white wine and garlic sauce. No oysters, but all Italian and pure Mediterranean.
There’s carnivorously-inclined fare on offer at The Oyster House, too, with the Raging Bull set menu offering, yes, a seafood and salmon chowder to begin, but moving mainly through more meaty pastures with Australian Wagyu beef as a main course (matched with half a Boston lobster, naturally). This top Wan Chai Italian restaurant also hosts some of Hong Kong’s most refined wine and beer tastings, all matched to the tune of several different varieties of oyster, flown specially from such far-flung oyster-growing regions as France, Spain, South Africa, Canada and the USA. Highly sought after, The Oyster House deserves reservation.
Fresh Oysters in the town. Good services. Great Food. That was my 2nd time been there. Am sure I will go again. Highly recommended to every oyster lovers, you will never feel disappointed.
Food was great - the (natural) oysters, clams, scallops and mussels were all incredibly fresh and the pork chop was very tasty. Overall, it was a great dining experience, although the restaurant is a little small.
Nice place, nice food, nice services! Location is easy to find or easy to go by transports. Food are fresh and numbers of different Oyster.
Wait for nearly an hour to get my main course. All dishes are good but not wow. No service at all and it's definitely is not a good place for celebrate wedding anniversary. Too noisy .
