A favourite among local curry addicts, Shajahan Indian Restaurant are saviours when it comes to spice. At this stylishly decorated restaurant on Kingsthorpe’s High Street, you’ll find the time-tested Indian favourites that we all know and love, as well as some exciting chef specialities. Begin with something from the tandoor, some garlic mushrooms or onion bhaji, before tucking into a mouthwatering curry. We recommend the jhinga tara (whole king prawns cooked with onions, pepper and a medium dry sauce, served on a sizzling plate) and the nawabi murgh stick (fresh chicken marinated and cooked in a clay oven, served on a cocktail stick in a creamy and mild sauce). Great food. Great choice. Very nice staff. The unusual menu is a refreshing change from the usual predictable menus at other restaurants. Good prices too!
Food Excellent, staff helpful, will be going again. Have been to several Indian restaurants in the area and this is the best. There were two large parties due on the night so this is another positive for the Shajahan
As usual the food was brilliant. it was busy as it was a buffet night. it looked like there was just one waiter on but he was brilliant. had a lovely evening.
VERY GOOD FOOD,VERY GOOD SERVICE.EXCELLENT STAFF .All in all a great night out highly recommended. We have eaten here on several occasions and will continue to do so
This is a very nice restaurant. Good food and good value. However, as we visited on a Saturday evening, the small space was very busy, limiting conversation and we were close to the kitchen door so it was a bit distracting. Our main courses also took a long time to arrive, even though some of our group had starters. The seven people present all enjoyed our meals. So, I'd definitely recommend it, but probably best to visit on a week day evening rather than the weekend.
We like the location of the restaurant in the old high street Kingsthorpe. The restaurant itself is comfortable and cosy. We were celebrating ones graduation and had a great time and the staff were helpful making sure we were catered for including supply a special glass for champagne. Everyone enjoyed their meal. It was a great night. Thank you.
The quality of the food at Shajahan on High Street in Kingsthorpe village is consistently excellent. Booking is easy and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. Portion sizes are good and because they don't have an alcohol licence, taking your own drink is encouraged so the bill is always smaller than you'd usually expect!
Even though the restaurant was busy as it was a Saturday night we didn't have to wait long for a waiter to take our order. We had a lovely meal .This restaurant is worth a visit, and how many Indian restaurants show Bollywood movies on 2 big screens not many ,this one does.
friendly staff, we came when opened 5:30 on saturday no busy. food- i had korai balti very good, generous portion enjoyed meal. there is no english menu but they coocked chicken nuggets for kids. they do not serve alcohol then you need yours. all in all good experience would go back in the future.
Great food at very reasonable prices. Excellent service, polite and unhurried. The food was well cooked and full of flavour. It was not drenched in oil like some curry houses. Worth noting that it is a BYO drink restaurant, no alcohol is available on the menu.
