Thinking about making a Sanche Modern Korean booking?
Sanche’s name derives from the Korean method of growing vegetables naturally on the mountain
side. The team’s core concept -healthy but delicious- relies heavily on the freshness of the
ingredients in their dishes, and as such the team sources all their supplies locally. Everything that is,
except their jang sauce which comes direct from Korean to Gage Street in Central Hong Kong from their
carefully sourced artisan producer in the country.
Quite different from traditional Korean
restaurants, Sanche is proving itself to be distinct with its reluctance to indulge too much in the open-grill
that is a staple at many Korean restaurants, even in upmarket Central. Instead this chic eatery offers
many small plates of light Korean food, and honours its vision as a refined and modern Korean
restaurant. There are many tried and tested favourites on the menu here (hello mungbean kimchi
pancakes, we’ve missed you) but also plates like bossam which is a tender slice of pork belly
served with spiced cabbage. This really is a step in the right direction for Korean food in Hong Kong,
and diners at this Gage Street eatery should be pleased with themselves for getting in on the action
ahead of the curve. Sanche is open Monday-Saturday from 11am until midnight.
