Sake Bar GINN take Japanese rice wine more seriously than any other bar or Japanese restaurant we’ve yet encountered in Hong Kong, storing their sake in in a special refrigerator to keep it at the optimal temperature and playing host to countless brewers and sake producers from Japan who come to this venue in the Ho Lee Commercial Building in Lan Kwai Fong to showcase their wares and guide guests through tastings. Sake Bar GINN also employs an in-house sake sommelier accredited by the Sake Service Institute to ensure that their cellared selection is always at the top of its game.
The full spectrum of Japanese sake types are available at Sake Bar GINN, from ginjo and junmai ginjo through to daiginjo and junmai ginjo. You can also sample sake tasting sets, organised by prefecture and taking in premium producers like Dassai, Shichida, Fuchu Homare, Narutodai and Houraisen. Seasonal sake tastings are also available at this shrine to refined Japanese drinking culture in Lan Kwai Fong, the most vibrant nightlife hotspot in Hong Kong’s Central, but no casual drink or full exploration of the rice wine on offer here would be complete without some glorious Japanese cuisine as accompaniment. To this end, Sake Bar GINN offers an assortment of tapas-sized Japanese delicacies and appetisers – edamame, tatami iwashi, marinated raw squid, wasabi-dressed octopus, firefly squid in soy sauce, shuto, Japanese pickles, ikura oroshi and goma ae.
