Not only is Sake Bar GINN one of Hong Kong’s premier specialist purveyors of fine Japanese sake, but it finds itself in the food, drink and entertainment hub of Lan Kwai Fong in the Central district. Comprising just a couple of city blocks, this area is packed with gastronomic possibilities, and with the addition of Sake Bar GINN up on the fourth floor of the Ho Lee Commercial Building, fans of the finer things in Far Eastern life have a certified home – Sake Bar GINN is in fact home to a Sake Service Institute-certified sake sommelier, so you know you are in professional hands.

A hidden gem in the heart of Lan Kwai Fong. If you love sake, this is a very good place you can try a lot of them by the glasses, their light meals are excellent and must try. Specifically gyutan shioyaki and satsuma age. One problem I had was finding the place as without any help of signage coupled with building entrance renovation, I had problem finding this place. Enjoy!
Very cozy restaurant with a nice open area. Food is good but on the lighter side. Sake is good with many choices and restaurant owner is very friendly, providing good tips and suggestions.
Introduced us to exactly he two right sakes for our amateur palates, food decent but don't come if you're expecting an actual dinner sized meal.
Sake Bar GINN take Japanese rice wine more seriously than any other bar or Japanese restaurant we’ve yet encountered in Hong Kong, storing their sake in in a special refrigerator to keep it at the optimal temperature and playing host to countless brewers and sake producers from Japan who come to this venue in the Ho Lee Commercial Building in Lan Kwai Fong to showcase their wares and guide guests through tastings. Sake Bar GINN also employs an in-house sake sommelier accredited by the Sake Service Institute to ensure that their cellared selection is always at the top of its game.
The full spectrum of Japanese sake types are available at Sake Bar GINN, from ginjo and junmai ginjo through to daiginjo and junmai ginjo. You can also sample sake tasting sets, organised by prefecture and taking in premium producers like Dassai, Shichida, Fuchu Homare, Narutodai and Houraisen. Seasonal sake tastings are also available at this shrine to refined Japanese drinking culture in Lan Kwai Fong, the most vibrant nightlife hotspot in Hong Kong’s Central, but no casual drink or full exploration of the rice wine on offer here would be complete without some glorious Japanese cuisine as accompaniment. To this end, Sake Bar GINN offers an assortment of tapas-sized Japanese delicacies and appetisers – edamame, tatami iwashi, marinated raw squid, wasabi-dressed octopus, firefly squid in soy sauce, shuto, Japanese pickles, ikura oroshi and goma ae. Reservations for this ultra-specialist bar are highly recommended and essential if you wish to attend tastings.
