Authentic Italian cuisine is the star of the show over at Pirata in Wan Chai, a restaurant whose influence is quickly spreading across Hong Kong. Airy and full of light, the restaurant’s premises are stunning and suitable for a number of different occasions, whether it's a business lunch, a romantic rendezvous or a big, family meal. Co-founders Manuel Palacio and Christian Talpo settle for nothing less than excellence in every aspect of the restaurant, and honing his skills in the kitchen, chef Stefano Rossi and his crew masterfully create dishes that transport diners to the Italian countryside
Start off by with some small plates like the grilled tomino cheese, tuscanian sea bass or the arancini bucket. Then, move on to a rustic Italian pasta dish like the purple potato gnocchi or pappardelle with duck ragu or go for some meat or seafood dishes designed to be shared around the table like the roasted suckling pig with scented apple sauce, bistecca alla Florentina (1kg T-bone steak with extra-virgin olive oil, rosemary and thyme) or the fresh fish of the day served. In addition to Italian dishes, Pirata is known for their cocktails – named after cosmopolitan cities like Tokyo, Copenhagen, San Francisco and London, the mixed drinks at Pirata are a must-try. Located on Hennessy Road, Pirata draws in diners from all across Hong Kong to its Wan chai location – guarantee a table by booking beforehand!
