Who knew you could find real deal southern comfort in Wan Chai? If you’re missing Mama’s fried chicken, don’t worry, you’ll find a more than a worthy fix on Sun Street, replete with Cajun spice, crunchy coleslaw and cranberry apple sauce. Or for the NOLA uninitiated, finally see what all the fuss is about with authentic Bayou seafood boil, cooked in beer and a house secret balance of spices with blue crab, king crab legs, clams and mussels bubbling away almost as happily as you chowing them down. Joined by classic southern American sides done with style - truffle duck fat fries with parmesan cheese, anyone? - there is an endless stream of amazing, satisfying food coming out of this very funky place on Sun Street. Just be sure to book, because Bourbon Street can seem like an abandoned alley compared with the happy crowds flocking to Moonshine & the Po’Boys.
Very nice service, the server prepared my regular table for me without me asking. Good value lunch set, it's a proper three-course meal, with coffee or tea as well. Good deal.
The restaurant had a great warm decor but when it came to the food it seemed to be a little hit or miss. My friend and I ordered the grilled beef and cheese po boy as well as the Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was excellent!!!! But the po boy was quite a dissapointment. All in all, it was a good meal, and the carrot cake at the end was fab!
The cocktails were good, but we came for the ribs and they were not impressive. I was disappointed as I had looked forward to it.
