明豐粵菜館 Ming Fung Cantonese Restaurant

Straight-up local Cantonese joints are slowly but surely getting pushed out of Sai Ying Pun as more and more chic international eateries cluster around Hong Kong’s newest MTR stop, but thankfully you can still find a few authentic spots serving up the same old satisfying classics – and non-inflated prices – they have been for years. One of those places is Ming Fung Cantonese Restaurant on Second Street, which dishes out oodles and ladles of rich, aromatic broths swimming with all sorts of meat, vegetables and seafood, as well as some Chinese rice and noodle staples that make it easy to swing by for a quick lunch. Variations of whole grilled fish with steamed Chinese greens and a sweet, meaty sauce are the house specialty, though bring a Cantonese-speaker to read the changing chalkboard menu and uncover some real gems!
