Kamigishi Restaurant takes Japanese cuisine ack to the basics, with a highly traditional menu and a highly traditional setting along Minden Avenue in Hong Kong’s Tsim Sha Tsui. While Kamigishi is something of a formal Japanese restaurant, you can expect nothing but the warmest welcome and some of the city’s best live and raw food. The restaurant had a good ambience. The sushi platter was fresh and well presented. The tempura crab leg was tasty with the right amount of batter and very moist inside. The clam was sweet and fresh. However, it was slightly overpriced.
The restaurant was quiet and pleasant -- perfect for business conversations. The food was presented politely and the complimentary tea was topped up at appropriate intervals.
Kamigishi Restaurant’s menus are largely in Cantonese, so you’re going to need a Hong Kong local if you really want to know what you’re ordering. That said, it’s always nice to be pleasantly surprised when you eat at a live and raw food Japanese restaurant, right?
