More about the restaurant: ELIA

Acting as the resident advisors when it comes to Hong Kong restaurants and bars, it’s our pleasure to kowtow to the splendour of ELIA, with a name that rolls off the tongue and a menu that gives similar joy to the tastebuds. Set on the harbourfront along Mody Road in Tsim Sha Tsui East, ELIA offers spectacular al fresco dining and a Mediterranean-themed interior fit for a king that takes its cues from Moroccan and, of course, Egyptian aesthetics. The food is similarly styled, offering diners authentic Middle Eastern, Arabic and Egyptian cuisine alongside a comprehensive selection of drinks and hookahs for your after-dinner ritual. Book Monday to Saturday from 8:30pm and you’ll also be treated to live dancers and entertainment.

Thinking about making a ELIA booking?

ELIA is something special in Hong Kong, a city that has its fair share of Middle Eastern-themed eateries. The exquisite food at this Tsim Sha Tsui food and entertainment temple is the product of the imagination and 20-odd-years’ experience of head chef Maged Makram, formerly of the luxurious Sheraton and Fairmont Hotel in Cairo. Suffice it to say that ELIA’s menu represents a major achievement in authentic Egyptian, Arabic and North African cuisines in this city. For the best possible experience, book ELIA’s Moroccan themed VIP room, but the three main dining areas are themselves loaded with dynamic dining possibilities, while the outdoor area is perfect for watching the sunset over Hong Kong’s skyline and Victoria Harbour.

We can’t recommend more strongly that first time visitors to ELIA’s distinctive premises along Mody Road, easily reached from Tsim Sha Tsui or Tsim Sha Tsui East, order ELIA’s signature Middle Eastern mixed grill platter, laden with lamb kofta, lamb chops, chicken kebabs, and buttery couscous with vegetables and sauces. A more humble approach might bring you to the mezze sampler, featuring a different range of Arabic delicacies that pair well with the seafood tagine or seafood mixed grill. Don’t forget the happy hour from 4pm until 8pm every night, where you can get great deals on ELIA’s famously cool cocktails before the belly dancing begins!
