Nobody in Hong Kong does Southern BBQ like CRFT PIT on Ap Lei Chau. This sleek eatery at the Harbour Industrial Centre on Lee Hing Street, in fact, dishes up meat so delicious, so succulently and lovingly prepared that it is more authentic than the vast majority of modern BBQ joints in Texas, the Carolinas or Georgia. Such lofty praise results from a long and dedicated process, starting with carefully, ethically sourced products, both from local Hong Kong producers and artisan, USDA-approved farmers in the USA. Then comes the cooking – low and slow in CRFT PIT’s authentic charcoal-fired smokers, dressed in delicious marinades made in house without an artificial or chemical flavouring, colouring or other enhancer in sight. Then, finally (and luckily the only bit you have to worry about) comes the taste – unfortunately, no words can do it justice. Their tasting room and outside terrace seat 70 guests, but there’s often a queue so bookings are very strongly recommended.
