About Côte Guildford

Brasserie (/ˈbrasəri/).
A type of French restaurant with a relaxed setting, which serves single dishes and other meals. One thing about Côte Brasserie is that the family of French restaurants is refreshingly humble. It knows what it’s about but it doesn’t feel the need to scream from the rooftops. As such, some members of the family – like this restaurant on Castle Street in the centre of Guildford – come in the form of Côte Bistro. This is an elegant dining spot blended seamlessly with the quaintness of its surroundings. Do not, however, see this as a glass half full. See it as a baby of the family with the same exceptional food and dedication to service you’d expect from its larger brothers and sisters up and down the UK.

More about Côte Guildford, Guildford

Guildford’s Côte Bistro is a delicate little bombshell of French flavour and sophistication, but it’s also astoundingly good value. Set on Castle Street in the very heart of town, this bistro is inspired by Paris and when you’re sat eating or drinking inside, you certainly won’t feel too many worlds away from the French capital. Vintage style chairs and tables sit upon a mosaic tiled floor and are doused with soft light to create an ambience that’s as relaxing as it is pretty. In fact, the only concern you may have at Côte Bistro of Guildford will be what you’re going to select from the menu.

Whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner, the freshly-prepared dishes here represent the very best of the French kitchen and will leave a smile on your face and a little glow in your stomach. As we said, Côte offers exceptional value, particularly when you look towards the weekday lunch and early evening menu that means two courses for £10.95 or three for £12.95. The à la carte is wallet-friendly, too, and diners in the heart of Guildford can expect classic French flavours in the way of Breton fish stew and roasted pork belly, as well as beef Bourguignon or a serving of Steak frites with garlic butter.

The best value brunch in town! Excellent quality and good service, Cote is a reliable venue whatever the occasion and Guildford's is a particularly good example.

We went to the Cote Brassierie after an afternoon watching a play at the Yvonne arnault theatre . We arrived 15 mins early , the staff were welcoming and very accomadating giving us a choice of tables. I chose the warm Roquefort cheese salad followed by the Tuna Nicoise my hubby The French Onion Soup and a Sirloin Steak . All were served quickly , hot and were delicious. The salad and the French Onion soup ware particularly special. A rainbow of fresh salad and the onion soup with the melted cheese presented beautifully. We finish with apple tart and lemon tart . Which were individual rather than a slice which was great . Would use cote brassierie at Guildford again in a heart beat Thank you to the staff there it was full and still they knew exactly what they were doing

We were greated with a warm welome showed to a choice of tables by the waiter. given a menu a enough time to choose a drink and our preferred menu. Order taken quite quickly. We chose a wine on the menu "cotes de Gasgoine" this was a lovely wine we were also give a complimentary bottle of water. Our starter arrived quite quickly. the main arrived a little too qucikly as we had only just finished our starter but what a delight we both chose the duck it was exquisite. We were asked if we would like to order our desert but requested a little time to digest our main meal. This was also delicious. I had the Creme Brulee and my husband had the ice cream and chocolate sauce. the whole experience was wonder definitely be going again.

We love this restaurant and have been coming here for years. I would often rate them as a 6/6, but this last visit was a 4. They were extremely busy, and unfortunately it showed. The seating felt cramped, and the waiters' demeanour was rushed. Our olives and aperitifs arrived with our starters, so they were pointless. My husband had to send his steak back as it was overcooked, and the waitress had forgotten to ask which sauce he wanted with it, which potatoes, etc. She also got our coffee orders wrong. We made no complaint as we have had so many good meals here, and yet we found my husband's meal had been taken off the bill when we came to pay, so the maître d' obviously had his eye on things, and we still walked away happy. This was only the second time in about six years of coming here that we've been disappointed- what a shame this the first review I've been asked to write- but we will ignore this occasion and come back in a couple of months, expecting great things as usual, and I've no doubt I'll be able to leave a wonderful review then.

On arrival received a friendly greeting. Was able to choose where we would like to sit. Had rump of lamb which was cooked just right, and my first jersey royals this year, with mint hollandaise, really lovely. Had the special for dessert Crepe with fresh strawberries with ice cream rather than chattily cream, was so nice. Although could have done with a few more strawberries as bit tight on them. Mind you it does say just 'Strawberry' on the menu. Wine was nice as well. Had red La Garenne Syrah. Took a picture of the label when last there in March as it was so good and at a reasonable price. On the whole had a lovely evening. The Staff are a credit to Cote.

Our visit to Côte Guildford was spoilt by the high intensity noise level. It was stressful and exasperating as conversation with our friends was nigh on impossible. This is the second time that we have had this problem in this restaurant and we vowed we would never go back there. Unfortunately, we had no choice, otherwise we would have gone to Côte in Goldalming where it is far more relaxing. The food was good but the desserts very disappointing. The creme brûlée was tasteless and sickly and we didn’t eat it, the Coupe Chocolate was just plain ice cream with an uninteresting chocolate sauce. The bill was higher than expected. Really not worth the money. Never going back,

Our visit to Cote Guildford was a bit disappointing this time. We had the set menu and my starter of salt cod croquettes was very nice. My husbands frisée salad with lardons and poached egg less so, hardly any salad and served in a hot bowl! His main of steak was fine but my "pan-fried" hake fillet with chick peas was definitely not pan fried. It arrived in a cloud of steam the way only something that has been microwaved can do. It continued steaming for several minutes afterwards until the fish was over-cooked. I've ordered similar dishes in Cote many times and they have always been as described, pan fried with crispy skin and cooked just right, so this visit was disappointing. I didn't send it back as I didn't want to leave my husband eating alone while I waited for another dish. I hope this was an isolated in in as the standards in Cote restaurants is usually much better.
