More about the restaurant: Cocotte

Hong Kong is filled with superb places to eat, representing the many culinary cultures of the world. The embassy of the French lies in Sheung Wan, at Cocotte on Shin Hing Street, where one can find all the haute cuisine favourites of La France, cooked up by les freres Moldovan, Brice and Jonathan. Their location, down the side of Hollywood Road, is secluded yet exclusive, and their decor exudes style and sophistication that one would expect from a French restaurant.

Thinking about making a Cocotte booking?

Take a look at Cocotte’s Weekend Happy Days special and brunch menu. What do we think of when we think of the French? Hundreds of years of culinary excellence, superlative style and crushing military defeats: all of these are on offer at Cocotte in Sheung Wan. (They may or may not have an army). The brothers Jonathan and Brice Moldovan opened this Shin Hing Street brasserie in the up-and-coming NoHo district, by Hollywood Road, with the intention of bringing French cuisine and French glamour – and a pinch of rough-around-the-edges French cool – to the heart of Hong Kong.

The food is the star, of course, and at Cocotte, they have a seasonal menu with takes advantage of the range of ingredients and flavours available in Hong Kong. Duck breast and foie gras, charcuterie, beef bavette and tarte tatin are just a few of the French favourites available on Shin Hing Street in Sheung Wan. There’s also the Hangover Set – a thankfully Virgin Mary spiked with horseradish and tabasco, a short, sharp espresso shot, bagel with smoked salmon and eggs. Forewarned is forearmed, but remember that you can’t eat all this from home: so book your table now and head on over for a classy evening or elegantly dissolute morning in Hong Kong.
