Ciao Chow is a clever play on words that fuses Italian and English and means Hello! Eat! For us this name perfectly summarises what Ciao Chow promotes with its concept: plenty of interaction between diners, the chefs and the bar staff in an environment that’s nail-bitingly cool and stylish. On Hong Kong’s D’Aguilar Street – a fantastic spot in Lan Kwai Fong that’s accessible and convenient – the Ciao Chow restaurant space consists of marble counter tops, terrazzo floors, exposed concrete, copper piping and very pleasant lighting. Speaking of which, the pizza and pasta you’ll find at Ciao Chow is some of the best in Lan Kwai Fong, even wider Hong Kong. As we mentioned above, the chefs here take pizza back to its original Napoli roots and offer classically-topped, authentic Neapolitan-style pizzas on their menu. Some toppings are also a little more experimental, or diners can choose to customise their own with endless combinations of the finest ingredients. Then, it terms of pasta, Ciao Chow puts the whole dry vs fresh debate to bed by making expert use of both. Why? Because certain pasta dishes are better with dry, while others are better with fresh – easy. For genuine Italian food in the heart of Hong Kong, we can’t think of too many places better than Ciao Chow.
pizza is good, well prepared (it doesnt remain on your stomach leavening inside) and 118hkd for margherita is cheaper than pizza express. LOCATION IS EXCELLENT as you can profit of view, air con and outside weather, so not freezing (unless u r not an american or local who likes to get sick with air con)....so for normal people is perfect....staff is always smiling and lot of beer varieties....have you looked at the fire oven for pizza? huge investment...I only worry that one day a stupid manager will decrease the pizza leavening time...if this will happen, its the end of pizzeria as it happens in every place when a stupid manager wants to play the pizza chef....
Excellent & fast service. The pizzas are one of the best I've tasted in HK! Great atmosphere and friendly service. Will definately be visiting again soon!
Ciao Chow is a very trendy and hip restaurant in the middle of the vibrant LKF. Good food and good service in a nice area. Also nice cocktails!
Very welcoming hostess. Staff were great. Never had to wait long for service from waiters. Food was reasonably priced. Enjoyed the atmosphere & vibe created.
Pizza good and great Kale salad but Pasta portion very small. Staff nice but a few times service very sloooow given only about half full. When trying to get the bill two staff were at the kitchen counter talking with their backs/sides to me and one of the female kitchen staff/chef saw me but rather than alert the two service staff she looked at me (and trust me she definitely saw me) then looked away - that was not impressive service regardless of her role. BUT it was not an all negative experience as food pretty good staff overall were definitely pleasant. I will certainly give it another go sometime in the future. Really was surprising was that they did not have a set lunch menu. This could be why they were not as busy as I had expected?
Customer service was good, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Some dishes were quite small such as a pasta dish. Anti pasti could of been presented better... 3 meatballs came on a plate which made the dish look small. Prosciutto came on a big chopping board with some pizza style bread, wasn't really enough bread to go with it and a different style of bread may have been better. Pizzas were freshly made but perhaps the toppings could of been a bit more exciting. Overall it was fine, but I've had better dishes elsewhere in HK .
The food was excellent, the regular coffee was not that good but the latte is a better choice. the service was very good. A very nice place to get together for Lunch
Great staff. Delicious pizza all round delicious dinner. Top dish was the truffle salami. The only surprise was no wine but an extensive non alcoholic drinks menu made up for it.
Interesting menu, order arrived quickly, staff helpful and available. Food was good, and portions were generous. Table too big to easily have a conversation above the music, which seemed to get louder as the evening progressed.
Nice food, good service. We had a good time there, the pizzas are very good, and we very much loved the tortellini in mushroom and chicken broth.
Service was much slower at lunch time than it was at our previous dinner but the light delicious set menu was good value for lunch.
Service was good and the decor is cool. However the pizza was rather a let down as the crust was tough - likely over-kneaded. The beet root salad is okay.
Good vibe but the music was too loud, had to raise up the voice, food was not as good as expected. Especially the pasta seemed undercooked but the dessert Tiramisu was the highlight of the night.
Service quite slow and tables quite crowded. The pizza is great, the pasta underwhelming. Would prefer to sit in the open bar area rather than the restaurant area, especially when there are several large groups in.
Service is slow and a bit hopeless. Initially told that we couldn't order pasta or pizza because there was no gas?! They got that fixed and then we were told that a few things on the menu were not available. Food was average and overpriced. Overall, a really disappointing experience.
Food is too expensive for what the quality it has, pizza dough not impressively stretched nor tasty when a magheritta pizza costed $120 and more 'interesting'/'enriched' one could cost up to $210. I tried my friends' dessert as well as mine, which I found them all severely disappointing as they were all pretty blend, or you can only taste the sugar that I thought was unnecessarily excessive. Draft beer were extremely overpriced and off-putting. I guess service is pretty nice. Not memorable for better or for worse.
food was good, reasonably priced. Good for casual dining or happy hour. However, service could be better, the waiter that served us seemed to be quite clueless.
