The town of Northampton was originally destroyed by a huge fire in 1675 and subsequently rebuilt entirely around a spacious and beautifully planned market square. Today, the medieval cobbled streets that radiate from the square are filled with enticing shops, cafes, bars and eateries. There is plenty to see and do here, from the 10th century Church of the Holy Sepulchre through to the Central Museum and Art Gallery. Enjoy a trip to Abington Park, wander along the River Nene and see the award-winning Charles Rennie Mackintosh House and gallery. Once you've had your fill of culture, art, history and leisure, why not treat yourself to a slap-up meal at one of the fine American restaurants in Northampton?
