    So, where do we start?

Well, first things first, which of the many, bustling and diverse districts should you head to? Well, if we’re honest, being a hub of all things food and culture, the vast majority of districts in Hong Kong are home to Thai restaurants aplenty. However, here are our favourite spots to fill our boots with as much pad see ew, massaman and tom yum goong as we can. Firstly, get down to Kowloon Bay, north of Hong Kong Island, where Thai restaurants are more than bountiful, with many featuring spectacular views of the Bay, complimenting the food just perfectly. Back on the Island, venture to Wan Chai, Tsim Sha Tsui and Quarry Bay, or keep things centred and discover some of Central’s iconic Hong Kong Thai restaurants too.

Must-try dishes from Hong Kong’s Thai restaurants

Balance, detail and variety are at the essence of Thai cuisine. But we’re sure you know that if you’ve got this far. Strong aromatic herbs and spices, and intricate cooking techniques blend together to make up this uber flavoursome cuisine, and boy oh boy, has it got some truly incredible dishes. Some of our favourites? Well, for seafood lovers, gear up in Hong Kong’s Thai restaurants for that tom yum goong we spoke of earlier, made with shrimp and lemongrass and often, lashings of spice. Pad Thai is one of our firm favourites – this humble noodle dish is revered worldwide for its punchy flavours from eggs, tofu, tamarind, fish sauce, garlic, shallots and chilli with plenty of lime, of course. Then, you’ve got massaman curry made from cinnamon, nutmeg, cumin and peanuts, while who can go past a spicy green chicken curry? Our advice is to order a serving of green papaya salad on the side and just be sure to save room for mango sticky rice for dessert.

The best of the best: Hong Kong’s premium Thai restaurant

Hong Kong has really upped its Thai restaurant game in recent years, and it is now home to Michelin-starred spaces, as well as some truly wonderful restaurants on the higher end of things. At Namo Avant Thai restaurant one of Hong Kong’s most glamorous spots, under the helm of Michelin-starred chef Alejandro Sanchez, you’ll be in for unique Thai dishes alongside an extensive cocktail list. For example, keep an eye out for giant Atlantic octopus made with a light lemongrass and coconut foam, or the Chiang Mai Iberico pork ribs cooked in a mild northern Thai curry sauce. And for dessert? Crème brulee with fresh ginger juice or ticky-lice, of fresh Pandan-infused rice with mango cubes and hand-whipped coconut cream rounds things off just the way it should be.
