Must-try dishes from Hong Kong’s Thai restaurants
Balance, detail and variety are at the essence of Thai cuisine. But we’re sure you know that if you’ve got this far. Strong aromatic herbs and spices, and intricate cooking techniques blend together to make up this uber flavoursome cuisine, and boy oh boy, has it got some truly incredible dishes. Some of our favourites? Well, for seafood lovers, gear up in Hong Kong’s Thai restaurants for that tom yum goong we spoke of earlier, made with shrimp and lemongrass and often, lashings of spice. Pad Thai is one of our firm favourites – this humble noodle dish is revered worldwide for its punchy flavours from eggs, tofu, tamarind, fish sauce, garlic, shallots and chilli with plenty of lime, of course. Then, you’ve got massaman curry made from cinnamon, nutmeg, cumin and peanuts, while who can go past a spicy green chicken curry? Our advice is to order a serving of green papaya salad on the side and just be sure to save room for mango sticky rice for dessert.
